T. Purpurea
Tillandsia Purpurea is endemic to
Peru. It grows on sand, rock, and xerophytic vegetation, from near sea level to
900 (rarely 3100) meters above sea level growing in large mat like colonies. It
thrives on the coastal fog in areas receiving less than 2-4” of rain fall each
year .
The plants leaves have lots of
trichomes which give it a soft silvery appearance. It is a beautiful species in
flower and very fragrant.
